    With love on Mothering Sunday

The leaders and children at Annan Old Sunday School would like to wish everyone a happy Mother’s Day. The children decorated cakes this morning and gave them out to everyone as they left Church.  Very lovely!  Thank you kids!

Take a look at our new page

We are in the process of putting photographs and events onto a new page to show everyone ways in which we have celebrated 225 years of Annan Old’s present building.  Please have a look at our page titled 225 Years via this blue link or by selecting the Celebrations parent page.  If anyone has photographs or information they would like displayed on this page, please contact Laura Quinn or Cath Foley.  Thanks.

Rev Bill Ferguson will visit Annan Old this Sunday

Please come along to help us start the 225 celebrations as we welcome Rev Bill Ferguson back to Annan Old this coming Sunday.  Join us in the Hall afterwards for lunch and the chance to catch up with our former Minister.

    225 Years Celebrations

First of all a huge apology for neglecting the website recently – school holidays!!  Events coming up for the 225th Anniversary include a visit by previous ministers of Annan Old.  On Sunday 7th September Rev Bill Ferguson will be taking the morning service at our Church. On Sunday 21st Spetember Rev Andrew Frater will be taking the morning service at our Church.  We are delighted to welcome them both back to Annan Old and would be overjoyed if all members and friends came to Church to hear the service and catch up with them afterwards over a quick lunch in the hall.  Dates of other ministers will be announced soon.  Please check back here for further information and news about other events for 225.

    Sunday School Prizegiving Service

Our Sunday School leaders and children will lead this Sunday’s worship at their annual Prizegiving service.  Everyone is welcome to come along – 11.15am in the Hall, Sunday 22nd June.

    Silent Auction and Savoury Supper

As part of our 225th anniversary fundraising events, we will be holding a Silent Auction and Savoury Supper on Friday 20th June at 7pm in the Hall.  All are welcome.

    Pentecost Celebrated

“The Lord is here, His Spirit is with us! Oh come and celebrate with me.”
These words are taken from the first song in Roger Jones Cantata “Saints Alive” which tells the story of the first Pentecost in words and song.
The words spoken by the narrator are taken directly from the accounts in the book of the Acts of the Apostles and the upbeat musical settings of the songs truly enhances the story.
On Pentecost Sunday the Singing Group sang the Cantata as our morning worship, not in the Church but in our Church Hall which was a more fitting setting to relate events which took place, not in any religious establishment but in an upper room and in the open air.
Pentecost is the festival of the church which perhaps gets the least attention but it marks the birthday of the church when God gave his Holy Spirit to enable the few frightened Disciples to become the greatest force for good the world has ever known.
This was reflected in the worship with hymns and prayers carefully chosen to enhance the story and bring it to life.
The group were at their best and the atmosphere in the hall was described as electric as the story unfolded.
The Cantata finishes with a setting of All People that on earth do dwell to Roger Jones wonderful upbeat tune and the congregation joined enthusiastically with the Group in joyful praise.
Comments afterwards were all positive, “That was a real worship service”, “wonderful”, “we could do with more of this kind of thing”, “who said the church is dead or dying”
It is good to be able to say that even during a vacancy the Church is alive and well and keeping worship exciting ready for the next ministry to begin.

    Sunday School Sponsored Walk

Leaders and children of Annan Old Sunday School will be taking part in a sponsored walk on Sunday 8th June as a contribution to fundraising for 225th Anniversary events.  The walk will be a distance of 2km (5 times round the Everholm running track).  Some of the children would like to keep with the 225 theme and will opt for an extra 250 metres to make their distance 2.25km. Please pray for this event that the children all take part safely with much encouragement.  If anyone would like to support the event please speak to a member of the Sunday School team or phone Laura on 07769568115.  Anyone wishing to take part can also ask for a sponsor form by phoning the same number or asking in Sunday School. Many thanks.
